Guardiola: no chance I would have let Sterling go

The 28-year-old Chile forward is out of contract at the end of the season but Guardiola was coy when asked if City would reactivate their interest in him in one of the next two transfer windows.

The loss leaves Chile in danger of failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, with Juan Antonio Pizzi's side down in sixth in the South American qualification and outside of the four qualifying places and additional play-off berth.

A want-away player is not the most useful person to have around in a dressing room, and now is not really the time when Arsenal can deal with people not pulling their weight.

"He needs to come back to full fitness, which he was not against Liverpool". I am sure Javier Tebas had some doubts and he was able to talk with Ferran. He is strong mentally and hopefully will very quickly be back to his best.

'If there is any negativity or you think that he's giving anything less than 100%, the players will sniff it and they will wean that guy out'.

It's that uncertainty that looks like it will keep Sanchez in London through the winter, at least. Sanchez will be allowed to negotiate with foreign clubs in the New Year.

"That's why I believe it's important that we change that and close all that stuff before the championship starts".

"At least the question has to be raised".

"He's an Arsenal player".

Chilean fans were not impressed by their side's loss to Bolivia earlier this week.

Alexis Sanchez has taken to social media to post a cryptic message as he prepares to report back for Arsenal duty.

He recorded 71 goals in all competitions over the past three seasons and finished third in the Premier League last year with 24 goals. Are they half in? And the worst part is no one ever realises how that makes you feel.

This was City's second attempt at acquiring Sanchez. As far as I know, UEFA didn't call us to say that we are being investigated.

"But we have other players that can play in that position". The transfer market is over, there was a lot going on.
